Hello everyone and welcome to the new and improved KyleZipp.com.
Over the past several years I have worked with WordPress almost every day and with each new site I build I continue to be impressed with its power. For a long time a was a stubborn web developer who believed it was always going to be the easiest to just create my own system for everything. When I designed and developed my previous layout here at KyleZipp.com, I did it using my own CMS. I knew exactly how I wanted to updated it and it only made sense to spend days developing a system that would only work for myself on this one project. Although it was perfect for this one project, when the site was done the time spent developing it really wasn’t worth it.
Since diving deeper into WordPress, I’ve learned to get past the “Build it Yourself” motto and on to the “I’m sure someone else has already done it” way of thinking. Sure things may not be exactly as you want them right out of the box, but if you have enough knowledge to build your own system, it shouldn’t take you long to take a product similar to what you want and modify it until it’s exact. Of course this may not always be the case, but it certainly is with WordPress, WordPress child themes, and all the Plugins WordPress has to offer.
With that in mind, I decided it was definitely time I turned my old custom made CMS into a fresh new website and blog & portfolio using WordPress. I don’t want to waste to much time on this initial post as I still have to finishing migrating all my content over to this fresh new design, but over time you will see everything from project updates, web tutorials, tips and tricks, and even some personal updates right here on KyleZipp.com
